About the Role
Are you a young person with lived experience of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you want to help shape and improve services for children, young people and families across Sandwell?
We are seeking a Young Person with SEND Lived Experience Representative to play an important role in the development of SEND services within the Families First Programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your experiences, views and ideas to help influence how services are designed and delivered.
Your contribution will help ensure that children and young people remain at the heart of decision-making, improving outcomes and experiences for those accessing SEND support.
Key Responsibilities
Share your experiences and views of SEND services and support.
Help identify what is working well and where improvements can be made.
Attend workshops, meetings and discussion groups alongside professionals, parent carers and other stakeholders.
Support engagement activities and help shape ways to involve more children and young people.
Review plans, presentations and information to ensure they are accessible, understandable and meaningful.
Provide feedback on language, communication methods and service design.
Help identify the priorities and needs of children and young people with SEND.
Contribute ideas that influence both strategic planning and day-to-day service development.
About You
Has lived experience of SEND.
Is passionate about improving support and outcomes for other children and young people.
Feels confident sharing their views, ideas and opinions.
Can work positively alongside professionals, families and other young people.
Is able to reflect on both their own experiences and the experiences of others.
Has a positive and enthusiastic approach to helping shape local services.
Qualifications Required
GCSE Maths (or equivalent).
GCSE English (or equivalent).
