Job Description: Pharmacy Technician – HM Prison Service

About the Role
We are looking for a conscientious Pharmacy Technician to join the healthcare team delivering pharmacy services within the prison. You will support the service in the safe and secure supply, dispensing, and administration support of medicines to people in prison, working within a secure environment and in line with NHS and prison healthcare standards. Full training can be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately dispense and prepare prescribed medicine
Maintain robust stock control, including ordering, receipt, and storage of medicines
Maintain accurate patient medication records
Liaise closely with prison healthcare staff, nursing teams, GPs, and prison officers regarding medicines-related security and clinical concerns
Identify and escalate discrepancies, medicine security risks
Support medicines reconciliation for prisoners on reception and transfer
Adhere to all prison security procedures for movement of medicines and equipment within the establishment
Maintain patient confidentiality in line with GDPR and Caldicott principles
Support audits, CQC inspections, and controlled drug accountable officer requirements
Maintain professional boundaries and a calm, non-judgemental manner when working with individuals in custody
