Youth Justice Social Worker

• Monday – Thursday: 9am – 5:30pm
• Friday: 9am – 5pm

Location: Oldbury

Hybrid Working: 2-3 days per week in the office depending on business needs

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Youth Justice Social Worker to join the Oldbury team. This role involves working directly with young people who have offended, providing assessments, intervention, risk management, and safeguarding to promote positive outcomes.

You will support young people in both custodial and community environments, ensuring that intervention plans are robust, timely, and aligned with Youth Justice principles. This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled practitioner to make a significant impact on the lives of young people and their families.

Key Responsibilities

As a Youth Justice Social Worker, you will:

• Undertake comprehensive assessments of young people who have offended.
• Manage risk, safeguarding concerns, and vulnerability factors.
• Develop effective intervention and safety plans.
• Provide supervision and direct work to young people who:
• Have been remanded or sentenced to custody
• Are serving community Court Orders
• Complete ongoing sentence planning for young people in custody or community settings.

Court & Partnership Work

• Attend Youth Court as a representative of the Youth Offending Service (YOS).
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to support young people’s progress.

Who We Are Looking For

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker.
• Registered (or eligible for registration) with Social Work England.

Experience & Knowledge

• Significant experience within Children’s Services.
• Strong understanding of Youth Justice issues, practice, and pathways.
• Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and safeguarding frameworks.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage complex caseloads.
• Confident in sharing ideas, expertise, and reflective practice.
