Career Journey
I joined the business (Bluecare at the time) as a recruitment consultant without any health and social care experience after travelling around South East Asia, and built up a large book of qualified social workers.
Within this sector we started placing the odd CAMHS practitioners that were social workers, I really enjoyed this as I have a passion for children’s mental health and supplying locums who make a difference.
When HCRG acquired HCL in 2018, I was asked by the board to put a proposal together for a specialist mental health business unit. It was signed off in August 2018 and today we supply 400 locums each week and have a team of over 20 staff.
When did you start working in your current position and what do you do?
My current position started in April 2023 after being promoted to Associate Director.
What was your journey to this role?
I have a fairly text book career journey which was in line with HCRG’s career path. I worked hard to become a top biller, and wanted to lead a team and build up a successful team within the social care.
An opportunity within the mental health division came up and I was given the chance to build a team, I also took over Sugarman’s business division for Mind. This meant I was ticking off each career ladder goal that I had set for myself.
What is the best thing about your role?
- We supply 100’s of loyal locums that have worked with us for years, from relationships that we have built, it’s good to know they make a true impact to adult and children’s mental health.
- I relish working with the team, to help build their own books of locums. I also enjoy coaching and developing recruitment skills and helping them building their own relationships with the locums. I help mentor their mindset’s to bring the best out of them both professionally and personally and I enjoy seeing them flourish and build fulfilling lives for themselves.
- I am also always learning and being development by the board members. I know that I can achieve my goals and tasks that I would once have been afraid of and know there is no limits here and I have the back up and support needed.
